This highly desired, classic Cape May Point cottage is situated just three houses from the Alexander Avenue beach. Enjoy a quiet morning stroll on the sand and a breathtaking evening sunset, only steps outside the front door. With this fantastic location, you can easily wander down the shoreline to the Cape May beaches or to Sunset Beach to gather "Cape May Diamonds." This cottage is perfect for couples and small families who cherish a natural seashore environment during all four seasons of the year. This is the ideal spot to watch the bird migrations each fall and spring, as well as the Monarch butterflies in the fall. You will enjoy the outdoor dining on the private, fenced-in patio with its new gas grill. The owners are providing a completely renovated first floor, including a refreshed kitchen, new landscaping and exterior power washing. The outdoor shower has been updated and is available for use between Memorial Day and Columbus Day. The owners are installing updates and upgrades on a continuing basis. The full bathroom is being totally renovated and an updated outside deck are being installed for the 2024 summer season.. Enjoy all of the wonderful activities Cape May Point has to offer, with easy walks or bike rides to Lake Lily, the grassy Circle (lovely open space with shaded benches), and the Cape May Lighthouse and State Park.

This property does allow dogs, but all dogs must be pre-approved by property owners. Dogs must be less than 40 pounds in weight. There is a maximum of two dogs allowed.

Thorough cleaning and sanitizing is completed between guests, with additional cleaning products and a UV sanitizing device provided for guests use. Please note that the two twin beds in the loft are accessible via a narrow staircase that is best navigated by children over the age of 7 and those without mobility concerns.

This property does have outdoor security cameras.

A Serene Getaway. We Will Return
My wife and I found 221 Alexander to be charming, welcoming and comfortable. We had visited Cape May Point on a day trip this winter and upon returning home I suggested that we stay at the Point for a few days and visit some interesting spots when they opened in the spring. When I went online to look for rentals through VRBO, 221 was one of the first properties to come up. I remembered seeing it on our trip – it made a visual impression. We then worked with Coastline realty in Cape May, NJ to make our reservation. When we arrived for our stay, we found the property well maintained and in good repair. While the property probably dates from the 50’s, the wiring, door lock, thermostat, smoke detectors and other physical features indicated that the property was up-to-date. We appreciated the convenience of the digital door lock; no key to misplace. The modern high-end washer and dryer was an additional indicator of attention to detail. While we brought our own cleaning products, they were unnecessary as all had been provided. The bathroom, likewise was spotless and the hot water was more than ample in the corner shower. Kudos to the cleaning crew. The heat, which we needed in early May, was more than ample. The fenced patio made a perfect place to store our bicycles. There was a gift bag with a welcoming note from the owners and some useful necessities as well a jar of local honey. It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture. We also liked the notice about trash cans and recycling on the refrigerator. Couldn’t miss that. We noted the flat screen TV’s in both the sitting area and the bedroom. We were really loved the DVR. We didn’t have to miss our favorite programs. We could have both the sunset and “Jeopardy” every evening. When my wife raised the blinds on the bedroom window she was greeted with a window box full of colorful flowers. Such a cheery touch. The furnishings were practical and serviceable. The place has a comfortable welcoming feel about it. The stack of birding books was a real treat. The neighborhood was serenely peaceful. There is little through traffic on Alexander Avenue. And then there’s the nearby beach. A two minute walk leads to a lovely beach with the State Park beginning to the left. There is a deck with benches at the crest of the dune, perfect for watching the sunset. Every night was a spectacle regardless of weather. And, of course, the birds, butterflies and turtles. Our walks and bicycle rides were alive with the sounds of the birds. What a wonderful sound to wake up to and to hear just outside your door. We appreciated the outdoor dining table and the new gas grill. We used it several times. We didn’t use the outdoor shower, but we used the clothesline and it was very convenient. The small room off the entrance made a perfect spot for stashing some of our luggage and things like bicycle helmets. We spotted the family games on the shelf there. What a great idea for a family on a rainy day. The closets were quite ample in the master bedroom. All in all, we had a wonderful experience at 221 Alexander and look forward to a fall visit.
